About Kurfurstendamm in Berlin, Germany
The Kurfürstendamm street area of Berlin, Germany was once a corduroy road that was used to connect to the Grunewald hunting lodge in the 16th or 17th centuries. The current configuration dates to the time of Chancellor Otto von Bismarck, and it was once one of the top entertainment districts in all of Berlin.
Today, the area is quite famous for the trendy shops that showcase the works of numerous fashion designers. There are also countless hotels and restaurants for the potential visitor. Though it exists in a far different venue today than it did historically, the Café Kranzler is soldiering on strong. Once a popular site for Bohemians, travelers will want to stop into this small bar as they peruse the Neues Kranzler Eck shopping grounds. The internationally famous architect Helmut Jahn designed this center, which is a fully modern European work of art.
There are several ways to reach the area. The Uhlandstraße U-Bahn station provides a connection near to the Kempinski Hotel. It’s also easily accessible by car on the Bundesautobahn 100, or the Berlin-Halensee train station on the Ringbahn line. The Autobahn connection makes a particularly interesting statement, considering that several auto manufacturers maintain showrooms in the Kurfürstendamm vicinity.
